Terms of Use

Ishra for iPhone · Last updated: 23 August 2026

These terms apply to Ishra for iPhone, distributed on the App Store. By downloading or using the app you agree to them. If you do not agree, do not use the app.

Ishra for Android is covered by the same terms in substance, but the App Store sections below are specific to Apple.

Who you are agreeing with

Ishra is an independent project published by R. Ibrahim Adam ("Ishra", "we", "us"), operating from Jakarta, Indonesia.

This agreement is between you and us. It is not with Apple. Apple is not a party to it and is not responsible for the app or its content.

For anything at all, including support: ishra.app@gmail.com. We are one person, so please allow a few days for a reply.

What Ishra does, and what it will never claim

Ishra shows prayer times calculated on your device, pauses apps you chose while a prayer window is open, and keeps a private journal of the prayers you log.

Ishra cannot and does not verify that anyone has prayed. Logging a prayer is an action you take for yourself. It is a personal record and a reminder, never proof, never a judgement, and never evidence of anything to anyone. Ishra does not check, detect, confirm or score your worship. Only Allah knows the truth of it.

The same applies to streaks and milestones. They count what you chose to write down. Nothing more.

Prayer times are a calculation, not a ruling

Prayer times are computed on your device from your location using an offline astronomical library, with a calculation method you select. Calculated times are an aid, not a religious ruling.

  • Different methods, madhabs and local authorities give different times, sometimes by several minutes.
  • At high latitudes, and in seasons where the sun does not reach the required angle, no calculation method gives a reliable answer.
  • An inaccurate device location, a wrong time zone, or a manually chosen city that is not where you are will produce wrong times.

Where it matters, follow your local masjid or a scholar you trust, not this app. Ishra is not a religious authority and does not give religious rulings. We are not responsible for a prayer prayed early, prayed late, or missed.

App blocking is a help, not a lock

Pausing apps is built on Apple's Screen Time framework, using the permission you grant. It is designed to add a moment of friction between you and a habit, and you can always undo it: you can turn the permission off, change your selection, or delete the app.

It is not a security control and not a parental control. Do not rely on it to enforce anything on anyone, including yourself, where a real consequence depends on it. It can also be affected by iOS updates, changes Apple makes to Screen Time, or the device being restarted or restored.

Supporter, and how the money works

Ishra's core is free. Everything that pauses your apps, calculates your prayer times and keeps your journal works without paying anything, forever.

Supporter is optional. It exists so that people who want to support the work can, and it unlocks cosmetic and convenience extras such as additional orb styles and focus windows between prayers. It buys you nothing spiritual.

There are three options:

  • Monthly supporter, an auto-renewing subscription billed every month.
  • Yearly supporter, an auto-renewing subscription billed every year, offered with a free trial period.
  • One-time supporter, a single non-recurring purchase.

Prices are shown inside the app in your local currency before you confirm, and are set per storefront. The price you see at the moment of purchase is the price that applies.

Auto-renewing subscriptions

  • Payment is charged to your Apple Account at confirmation of purchase.
  • A subscription renews automatically unless auto-renew is turned off at least 24 hours before the end of the current period.
  • Your account is charged for renewal within 24 hours before the end of the current period, at the price then in effect.
  • You can manage or cancel a subscription in your Apple Account settings after purchase. Deleting the app does not cancel a subscription.
  • If a free trial is offered and you buy a subscription before the trial ends, any unused portion of the trial is forfeited.

We do not see or receive your card number, billing address, or any payment credential. All purchases and renewals are handled by Apple.

Refunds

Purchases are processed by Apple, so refunds are Apple's to grant, not ours. Request one at reportaproblem.apple.com. If something is genuinely broken, write to us anyway; we would rather fix it.

Nothing here limits rights you have under Indonesian consumer protection law (Law No. 8 of 1999) or the mandatory consumer law of the country you live in.

Your data stays on your phone

Ishra has no account, no server and no analytics. Your journal, photos, prayer log and settings are written to storage on your device. We cannot read them, because they never reach us. This is described in full in the Privacy Policy, which forms part of these terms.

Because we hold no copy of your data, we cannot restore anything you delete or lose. If your phone is lost, wiped or restored without a backup, your journal is gone. Use the app's export if that matters to you.

What you agree not to do

  • Copy, resell, sublicense or redistribute the app.
  • Reverse engineer, decompile or disassemble it, except where that right cannot be excluded by law.
  • Use it to break the law, or to restrict or surveil another person without their knowledge and consent.
  • Work around the App Store's purchase system.

Licence

We grant you a personal, non-transferable, non-exclusive licence to use Ishra on any Apple-branded device that you own or control, as permitted by the App Store Terms of Service. You do not own the app; you are licensed to use it. Ishra's name, mark, design and code remain ours. The third-party components Ishra includes remain their authors', under their own licences, listed in the app's About screen and in the bundled notices.

Availability, updates and change

We may update, change or discontinue the app or any feature, including Supporter tiers and what they include. If we discontinue a subscription you are already paying for, we will let it run to the end of its paid period.

The app is provided as an app you install and run. Nothing here promises it will always be available, be free of bugs, or work with every future version of iOS.

No warranty, and the limit of what we owe

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Ishra is provided "as is" and without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose. We do not warrant that prayer times will be correct for your situation, or that app pausing will work in every circumstance.

To the fullest extent permitted by law, our total liability to you for any claim relating to the app is limited to the amount you paid us for it in the twelve months before the claim. We are not liable for indirect or consequential loss.

Some jurisdictions do not allow these exclusions. Where that is so, they do not apply to you, and nothing here removes a right you cannot legally waive.

Apple's required terms

Apple requires that every app on the App Store carries the following, and they apply in addition to everything above.

  • Acknowledgement. This agreement is between you and Ishra only, not with Apple. Ishra, not Apple, is solely responsible for the app and its content.
  • Scope of licence. The licence granted is limited to a non-transferable licence to use Ishra on Apple-branded products that you own or control, as permitted by the Usage Rules in the App Store Terms of Service.
  • Maintenance and support. Ishra is solely responsible for providing any maintenance and support. Apple has no obligation to furnish any maintenance or support.
  • Warranty. Ishra is solely responsible for any product warranties, whether express or implied by law, to the extent not effectively disclaimed. If the app fails to conform to any applicable warranty, you may notify Apple, and Apple will refund the purchase price of the app to you. To the maximum extent permitted by law, Apple has no other warranty obligation whatsoever with respect to the app.
  • Product claims. Ishra, not Apple, is responsible for addressing any claims relating to the app or your possession and use of it, including product liability claims, any claim that the app fails to conform to a legal or regulatory requirement, and claims arising under consumer protection, privacy or similar legislation.
  • Intellectual property. In the event of any third-party claim that the app or your use of it infringes that third party's intellectual property rights, Ishra, not Apple, is solely responsible for the investigation, defence, settlement and discharge of that claim.
  • Legal compliance. You represent that you are not located in a country subject to a U.S. Government embargo or designated as a "terrorist supporting" country, and that you are not listed on any U.S. Government list of prohibited or restricted parties.
  • Third-party terms. You must comply with applicable third-party terms of agreement when using the app.
  • Third-party beneficiary. Apple and Apple's subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of this agreement, and upon your acceptance of it, Apple has the right, and is deemed to have accepted the right, to enforce it against you.

Ending this agreement

You can end it at any time by deleting the app. Cancel any active subscription separately in your Apple Account settings, since deleting the app does not stop billing.

We may end it if you materially breach these terms. The sections on liability, warranties and licence survive.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of Indonesia. Where you are a consumer resident elsewhere, this does not deprive you of the protection of mandatory consumer law in your country of residence.

Changes to these terms

If these terms change we will update this page and the date at the top. Where a change is material and affects a subscription you are paying for, we will make it visible in the app. Continuing to use Ishra after an update means you accept the revised terms.
