How can we help?
Set up Ishra on your phone, and find answers to what people ask most. A real person reads every email.
Set up in a minute
Android
Google Play- Install Ishra and finish the short setup: your city, calculation method and madhab.
- Choose the apps to pause at prayer time.
- Turn on the accessibility permission when Ishra asks. It only reads which app is on screen.
- In your phone's Settings, set Ishra's battery use to Unrestricted. On Xiaomi, Oppo, realme, Vivo and Huawei, also allow Autostart.
iPhone
App Store- Install Ishra and finish the short setup: your city, calculation method and madhab.
- Log your prayers, and keep your journal, streak and rhythm. The pause is optional on iPhone.
- To pause apps, open Focus in Ishra and allow Screen Time when iOS asks. Ishra never learns which apps you chose.
- Allow notifications for prayer reminders, and pick an adhan voice if you like.
Mac
Coming soon- Ishra for Mac lives in the notch: hover over it for today's prayer times.
- It opens by itself when a prayer begins, then gets out of the way.
- It is coming to the Mac App Store. Support bought on iPhone carries over with the same Apple ID.

Getting started
Android phones, from Google Play, and iPhone, from the App Store. The Mac app is coming soon.
No. There is no sign-up and no login. Everything works on your device.
Yes. Prayer times, the pause, logging, the journal, streaks, dhikr and qibla are free. Supporting Ishra is optional, a sadaqah, and unlocks extras, such as focus windows and deeper insights on Android.
The pause
Almost always one of these, in this order:
- Accessibility is on. Ishra needs it to see which app is open. Phone updates sometimes switch it off, so check again after one.
- Battery is unrestricted. Settings, Apps, Ishra, Battery, then Unrestricted (on some phones: Don't optimise).
- Autostart is allowed on Xiaomi, Oppo, realme, Vivo and Huawei.
- The app is on your list, and a prayer window is open.

Open Focus in Ishra, allow Screen Time when iOS asks, and choose the apps. iOS then holds them during each prayer window. If you declined Screen Time before, turn it on again for Ishra in your iPhone's Settings.
Through Screen Time, Ishra only ever receives anonymous tokens for the apps you picked: it cannot see their names or how you use them.
To pause an app, Ishra has to know which app is on screen, and Android only shares that through accessibility. That is all it reads for the pause.
If you turn on web protection, it also reads your browser's address, or the page title in a browser that shows no address bar, only to compare it against a list on your phone. It never reads what you type or your messages. Nothing is stored or sent.
Pray, then log the prayer, and your apps return. The pause only covers the apps you chose, and only while a prayer window is open.
Yes. Calls, messages, maps and every app you did not choose keep working as normal.
No, and it never will. Logging is a personal record you keep for yourself, never proof and never a judgement.
Prayer times and adhan
Usually nothing is wrong: apps and masjids answer slightly different questions. Check the calculation method your local authority uses, and your city. For Kemenag and JAKIM, Ishra adds the same safety minutes (ihtiyati) their published schedules include. On Android you can also use your exact location and correct each prayer by up to 30 minutes.
More in our article why your app and your masjid disagree. Where Ishra and your masjid differ, follow your masjid.
On iPhone, yes: pick one of five voices for your reminders, including an Indonesian adhan. On Android, reminders use a chime today; the same five voices come in the next Android update.
Turn on travel mode in Settings. You can mark prayers as shortened or combined, following your school.
No. If you chose akhwat during setup, Settings has a rest switch. While it is on, the apps stay open and your streak waits.
Supporting and purchases
Sign in with the same Google account (Android) or Apple ID (iPhone) you paid with. On Android, Ishra checks your purchase by itself when it opens. On iPhone, tap Restore purchases on the supporter screen. If it does not come back, write to us with the order number from your store receipt.
In Google Play: your profile, Payments and subscriptions, Subscriptions. On iPhone: Settings, your name, Subscriptions. We cannot cancel it for you, because the store handles billing.
Privacy and your data
On your device, and nowhere else. No analytics, no trackers, no Ishra server. The full detail is in the privacy policy.
On iPhone, export a backup file in Settings and restore it on the new iPhone. On Android, turn on Google backup in Ishra's Settings and your journal comes back on its own on a new phone; supporters can also export a backup file.
Settings has a delete option for single entries and for everything at once, photos included. Deleting is immediate and permanent. Uninstalling Ishra also removes all of it.
